A recycled poem fits my mood this fine Monday...

voices in the wind
clamoring for attention
seeking resolution
some profound meaning

wasted suffering would be the real tragedy
like the dark side calling me
to wallow in self-pity and hopelessness
a black hole with no appeal
death

let the wind carry me out
resolute
i want to dwell in sunlight
have triumph in my life
some good realized

a sacred sabbath
rising above circumstances
at peace with who I am...

Happiness

Not sure what it entails most days...
The simplest of things can evoke it
An unexpected hug
A precious child giggling

A spark of hope
That a long-awaited dream could actually come to be

I try to hold on to that spark
Pray it isn’t fleeting
Sun-kissed, sparkling, growing
To fruition?

Slightly unfocused...
It remains
Seemingly
Just out of my reach

Crossroads

This juncture where a choice must be made
To stick to the old path
That only ended in pain
Unwise

Turn
Reevaluate
Seek a different direction

Frightening
To stop clinging to the destructive-familiar
Simple to say but oh-so-complicated
Redefining from the inside out
A new road of wisdom forged by fire

Knocks

My friend, Natasha, has a huge heart. And a hard time saying no. Having weathered many storms of her own in life, she knows the impact of a listening ear, an understanding nod, a tear shared.

But does a knock (or a call, email or text) constitute a calling? How many can she respond to and maintain her own health, family and sanity? In a land of great need (Russia) with few social services available, the demands exceed capability.

It is easy for me to talk about boundaries when I am not the one bombarded daily and falling into bed exhausted every night.

I wish the world had less need.
I wish my advice held more wisdom.
I wish the barriers to accessing help were fewer.
I wish...

Holding life precariously
Day to day
Clutching - tenuous
Too often
Succumbing to its fallen state

Yet beauty murmurs - smiles - wows
Gifts from the Creator
A global offering
More than merely sustaining
A witness - a comfort
The giving of joy

Stirring longings
Something beyond...
The hope of redemption
